Small Waters in urban Regions
Small Waters in urban Regions
Objective(s): The idea is to rehabilitate creeks and small rivers of urban areas, and to try and restore their functions (heritage values, habitat functions, recreational potentials).
Deadline: ---
Restoring rivers and streams of urban landscapes proves to be challenging, because costs are often high and many stakeholders get involved. However, it is the urban location that offers the greatest opportunities for a large number of people to be close to water even in its natural state.
Main topics:
- importance of rivers for local communities and their identity
- opportunities for river restoration in urban landscapes
- options to manage flooding
- participatory planning
- integrated solutions
- how to deal with water framework and flood directives of the EU
Partnership: Municipalities, water boards, administrations, universities, NGOs, ...
