What is Ecoclubes?

Ecoclubes is a movement composed of young people who live and promote the belief that we all have to transform the world, beginning with our own environment and community. As an added effect: through these  actions in the community the children also learn valuable leadership skills that help them to be prepared for leadership on a national and international level, to further improve the quality of life, in their countries, through the other endeavours they choose to pursue.

Ecoclubes has the structure and methodology of a Non Governmental and Democratic Organization that seeks to articulate actions with other institutions and organizations working in the community towards a same objective.

In this way, the young people who participate in this international movement, founded in Rosario, Argentina in 1992, believe that their daily actions are both strengthening their communities and themselves as developing youngsters responsible for a common destiny, great commitment to the cause, and a great commitment and civil participation. And, with an International Network of Ecoclubes almost 10.000 strong in 20 countries of Latin America and Europe, we are changing lives every day more and more.

Our International Exchange

During the month of April-May 2005, representatives of Non Governmental Organizations from countries in the Americas, Africa and Europe, will take part in a 6 day International Exchange Among Youth of the Ecoclubes Experience in various parts of Argentina. They will share experiences with representatives of similar organizations, who promote citizen participation of the youth and the accomplishments made thus far to improve the quality of life of in the communities. Throughout this tour many topics will be addressed discussing how our organization has been so successful.  We look to create a forum, throughout the week, for free exchange of ideas between all parties in order to gain as much experience and new ideas to enrich all our organizations.

Through our recent expansions in Europe and else where, we have been in contact with many new youth organizations in countries such as Spain, Portugal, Poland, Ukraine, Belarus, Russia, Bulgaria, Sweden, Greece, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, Ethiopia and Nigeria; who have shown great interest in this type of exchange to get a deeper understanding of the ideal practices that encourage and develop the active participation of young people in their communities.

Aims of the Exchange

- To introduce Organizations of Europe, Asia and Africa to the methodology of Ecoclubes

- To exchange ideas and tactics, between the Ecoclubes and the Organizations involved in experiences of juvenile participation

- Establish new strategic alliances between the Organizations participating
