General information

Stalowa Wola, modern, industrial town is one of the biggest and most important economical centre in the northern part of the Podkarpackie Province.  The town is located amid the San and Vistula rivers, on the area of the old Sandomierska Forest, one of the largest forest areas in Europe. Stalowa Wola covers the surface of 82,5 km2 and is occupied by70 thousand inhabitants. The town is situated close to important road junctions like for example main state roads nr 77 and 19 (in the nearest future express road S19 connected with the A4 motorway Berlin-Kiev).

Stalowa Wola was build just before Second World War, as a big centre of military production. Up to the 1990's it was dominated by a big company: Stalowa Wola Steel Work (HSW).

Investment attractiveness

Stalowa Wola is an attractive place for different economical enterprises. Nowadays on the town area operate about 6200 companies. Since 1997 there has also operated the EURO-PARK WISŁOSAN Tarnobrzeg Special Economic Zone (TSSE). The Zone offers favorable investments opportunities to investors, which may receive big tax relieves.
On the premises of the Special Economic Zone in Stalowa Wola, 530 mln PLN (136mln EUR) has been invested and about 4 thousand work places have been created. In the Zone there are mainly entrepreneurs from Germany, Italy, USA and Poland.

In Turbia, 9km from Stalowa Wola there is located an airport for sports, propeller and turbo-propeller planes. It is planned to build concrete 1200m long runway and make available to investors areas surrounding the airport. In the distance of 60 km from Stalowa Wola there is also an international Rzeszow - Jasionka Airport, which since November 2005 is offering regular low-cost flights to London and Frankfurt (in the future also to Rome and other European cities). This airport can also be used for cargo flights.

Education

Stalowa Wola is a town giving various opportunities for personal development. There are four colleges and universities: Economics College in Stalowa Wola, Catholic University of Lublin, Olympus College and Polytechnic of Rzeszow with over 5 thousand students. Olympus College and The Economics College cooperate closely with scientific and academic centers in Lvov and Kiev. Thanks to the schools flexibility there is an opportunity to train students up to the investor's professional demands.

Recreation

Stalowa Wola offers not only very well prepared investment areas but also very attractive recreational areas, with few sports halls, two stadiums, two tennis courts, open-air and indoor swimming pools complex, indoor tennis hall. In the neighborhood, there are some nature reserves and landscape parks associated with Landscape Park of Janowskie Forest and nature trail. In the town also operates a stable, two automobile clubs and the aero club, enabling practicing air sports.

Stalowa Wola gives opportunity of taking advantage of 6 hotels with over 300 beds, lots of restaurants, pubs, and cafes. Guests can also use two community centers, music clubs and art gallery. In the neighborhood, of the town there are situated unique buildings and structures of medieval Sandomierz, renaissance Baranow Sandomierski and baroque Lancut. 

Culture

Traditions connected with the region's past are still cultivated in Stalowa Wola. On the San River, widely known local craftsmen still float wood and their rafts to the Baltic Sea. Folk groups of Stalowa Wola and nearby Nisko are jewels of  various European and national festivals and competitions.

One of the best in Poland, Regional Museum in Stalowa Wola apart from exposition presenting prehistoric and historical life of people who lived upon the San River also organize temporary expositions of world-wide famous artists (Vincent van Gogh, Andy Warhol, Salvador Dali, Marc Chagall, Jacek Malczewski, Olga Boznanska).

Monuments

In the town and its neighborhood there are many objects, which are worth seen: St Florian's Church and the belfry, made of wood (1802), Basilica Minor (1973), the Parish Church of the Virgin Mary Scapular in Rozwadow (1740), the Capuchin Monastery and Church (1752), Lubomirski Palace called the Castle (1786), the Palace and Park Complex in Charzewice (XVIII-XX century) and also many plaques and monuments, which memorable historical events (monument of Eugeniusz Kwiatkowski, John Paul II, statute of Christ the King, Municipal cemetery with the mausoleum to the victims of World War II). Unique in the European scale, art deco architectonic complex built in the years 1938-1939, also catches visitors' eye.

Stalowa Wola is open for new trends and cultural influences. It cooperates with cities, regions, cultural and science centers of neighboring countries, among them are Great Britain and Middle - East countries.
